What is the Youthcomm Community?
The community is a virtual youth centre born from a need to provide social interaction and engagement between young people regardless of their location or circumstances. It aims to provide a place for all young people to meet, chat, discuss issues and find entertainment, advice and information.
Although many of these facilities already exist on the internet, they are usually either in isolation from eachother, not aimed directly at young people or not concerned with the safety and security of their users. The Youthcomm Community aims to provide a safe and secure environment specifically for young people which brings the great opportunities that exist on the web together into one easily accessible place.
The services already in place include a vibrant and popular, moderated, online message board; regularly updated games and links sections; a downloads section; newsletter and text services and a database providing a wealth of information on a variety of issues. As part of Youthcomm, the community also provides instant access to the Youthline, online and telephone information and advice service and Youthcomm's 24/7 internet radio station. Community users are also encouraged to participate in the Showcase, displaying any creative work they have produced.
Additional features currently in development include a secure chat room, interactive cultural / events review and events listings.
